- Ginger Paste, 1 Tsp

- Cinnamon, 1/2 Tsp
- White Vinegar (Any Choice), 1/2 cup
- Molasses, 1/2 cup
- Shortening, 1/2 Cups
- All-purpose flour, 3 Cups

Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients
The first step towards making cookie dough is combining the ingredients. Take a bowl and add flour and sugar to it. Use an electric mixer or a stirrer to combine the components well. Furthermore, salt should be added to the mixture and whisked to obtain the salty flavor at its best.
Step 2: Melt & Stir the Wet Ingredients
Pour molasses and shortening into another bowl. Stir the ingredients together with a spoon and place them on very low heat. Release the butter sticks into the bowl and stir until the butter is melted.
Step 3: Combine & Add Flavor
As soon as the mixture becomes thick, the flour mixture should be poured into it. Baking soda is added to the mixture to help it become fluffy.

Put the ginger into the ingredients after whisking for about 2-3 minutes on medium speed with the hand mixer. It will make your old Salem cookies taste good with a ginger flavor.
Step 4: Chill the Dough Overnight
When the dough has reached the smooth and soft stage, you can transfer it to a baking sheet that you have greased. Then, wrap it in a cloth and place it in the refrigerator for a night. The dough will firm up by doing this, and it will develop a buttery taste.
Step 5: Shape & Prepare for Baking
Take out the baking tray the next day, and place the dough on a floured baking sheet. Slice it into thin slices and make the desired shapes. A strong, gingery, and buttery fragrance will be produced, along with a crispy layer.

Step 6: Bake to Perfection
The wafer-type cookie has to be made and put on a baking tray first. Then, the tray has to be kept inside a preheated oven for 20 minutes at 220 degrees. Be careful to monitor the top layer to prevent overcooking it.
At last, once the cookies’ surface is brown, the baking tray should be taken out, and the cookies should be given a little time to cool. Afterward, you will be able to relish a scrumptious, paper-thin sugar cookie.
