Ingredients Of Watermelon Mint Lemonade Recipe

This Copycat Watermelon Mint Lemonade relies on mostly fresh ingredients and one pantry item. Here’s a look at what you’ll need:

  • Watermelon: We’re using fresh watermelon here! Grab a seedless one if you can to make life a little easier.
  • Lemons: Freshly squeezed lemon juice is essential here for the brightest and freshest flavor.
  • Fresh mint: Fresh mint infuses the simple syrup to add a burst of coolness to this summer drink. Have some mint leftovers? You can also make this cranberry mint water for a refreshing beverage.
  • Sugar and water: To make our simple syrup.

Variations

  • Make It Limeade. Swap the lemons for limes instead. You may need a few extra limes since they are usually small in size.
  • Make it Frozen. Freeze your watermelon in advance of blending. Add more ice as needed to reach the consistency you prefer.
  • Sugar-Free. Swap the sugar for your favorite zero-calorie sweetener.

How to Make Watermelon Mint Lemonade

It all starts with a simple syrup infused with mint leaves.  You can use any extras to make a variety of drinks. And the addition of the mint will make this simple syrup smell like a dream!

  1. Combine the water, sugar, and mint in a small saucepan.  Heat it over medium-high heat until the sugar is melted.  Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool completely.
  2. Strain the simple syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove the mint leaves.  You’ll be left with a to-die-for-mint simple syrup.
  3. Combine the watermelon, lemons (rind removed), ice, water, and simple syrup in a blender.
  4. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth. I used my Blendtec to create this lemonade on the whole juice setting which makes homemade lemonade the easiest thing ever.

Expert Tips:

  • Skip Juicing the Lemons. Using a high-speed blender allows you to simply peel them and throw them in whole.
  • Plan to Hand Juice. If you would rather juice your lemons than blend them, increase the amount of lemons to six.
  • Storing. Keep leftover watermelon mint drink in an airtight container and it will last about 2 weeks in your fridge. You can also freeze homemade lemonade in your freezer for about 3 months.
  • Adjust the Flavor. Want a lighter or a sweeter flavor? You can add a bit of water for a lighter flavor or add more simple syrup for a sweeter flavor.

Watermelon Mint Lemonade Recipe FAQS

How do I get more juice from hand-squeezing my lemons?

To get the maximum amount of juice from your lemons the best method is to blend them. If that isn’t an option you can roll the lemon firmly against the counter using the palm of your hand. Another option is to place the lemon in the microwave for 10 seconds before cutting it and squeezing.

Can I use bottled lemon juice to make lemonade?

I do not recommend using store-bought.  It does not taste the same.  Fresh is best.
